Bridge ECD Community of Practice
The National ECD CoP was lit! The Movement Guidelines that were presented by Dr Catherine Draper reminded us that children need healthy movement behaviours for their overall development. There is an unhealthy reliance on screentime which has adverse affects on the development of children if not controlled and monitored properly. More importantly, caregivers, practitioners etc need to interact more with children through activities, games etc for healthy ealru development. Linda Biesteker gave us an insightful presentation on Human Resource and issues around quality. Quality still remains an issue in terms of ECD workforce and is not simply solved by qualifications. More emphasis needs to put on support of practitioners. CoP members also discussed the implications of the Function Shift on the ECD workforce amongst other topics.
