Inclusive Education Western Cape, formerly known as the Western Cape Forum for Inclusive Education, began in 1995 as an informal network of parents and professionals (working in education in various non-government organisations) who had an interest in finding out more about inclusive education. It has grown rapidly into an alliance of many individuals and organisations in this province, who actively promote inclusive education as a positive model in our education system, for example, ELRU, Grassroots, the Western Cape Forum for Intellectual Disability, the Down Syndrome Association, Epilepsy SA, and many others. It also enjoys a collaborative relationship with the Western Cape Education Department, particularly with many of their learning support personnel, who are based at the 8 district offices across the province.

The Management Committee
The organisation is managed by an elected Management Committee, which meet every second month.

Staff Members
Caroline Taylor, Diane Laugksch and Marjorie Carew are based at our
Resource Centre or 'hub' of our organisation. From here, the organisation provides an advisory service for parents, educators, learners, students and others interested in inclusive practices. Training Coordinator
Our training programme focusses on equipping educators with specialist knowledge, specialist skills, attitudes and methodologies to make inclusion a reality. Laetitia Brummer, our training coordinator, along with a team of contracted trainers, regularly conducts
training workshops on inclusive education for parents and teachers.
