| Inclusive Education
Western Cape, formerly known as the Western Cape Forum
for Inclusive Education, began in 1995 with an informal
network of parents and professionals (working in
education in various non-government organisations) who
had an interest in finding out more about inclusive
education. It has grown rapidly into an alliance of many
individuals and organisations in this province, who
actively promote inclusive education as a positive model
in our education system, for example, ELRU, Grassroots, the
Western Cape Forum for Intellectual Disability, the Down Syndrome
Association, Epilepsy SA, and many others.
It also enjoys a collaborative relationship with the Western Cape
Education Department, particularly with many of their
learning support personnel, who are based at the
Education Management and Development Centres (EMDC's). The Management
Committee
The
organisation is managed by an elected Management
Committee, which every second month.
