IESA’s Robyn Beere addressed the HRW round-table, ‘Complicit in Exclusion – SA ‘s Failure to Guarantee an Inclusive Education for Children with Disabilities’ at the Strand Towers Hotel today.
She concluded: ‘Inclusive education is marginalised in DBE. It is not seen as a priority. With 597 953 children with disabilities out of school, the rights of children to education are being denied. This calls for departmental and political accountability and responsibility. Inclusive education has to become a central priority in education, led by the ministry.’
